Welcome to the USNSCC Advanced Medical Training being held at Naval Medical Center, San Diego, California from 22-29 March 2008. Our goal is to provide the cadets an introduction to the life of US Navy medical personnel, and basic instruction in a variety of surgical topics. CAUTION: Surgical training is a hands-on laboratory training. Cadets are required at all times to present themselves as mature and self-controlled. You will see sights in this training you are unaccustomed to, and you will be practicing much of what you learn on actual tissues and organ specimens, under the direction of qualified individuals. If you do not like the sight of blood, or if you are queasy and faint easily, this is not the training for you. There will be classroom and hands-on learning in a wide variety of topics, including Neurology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, suturing, patient assessment, and surgical preparation procedures. You will have the opportunity to experience the dissection of a cadaver. We will also have a Career Night banquet, where you will meet medical professionals such as nurses, doctors, general hospital corpsmen, and corpsmen who have achieved advanced certification and work in specialty fields. There will also be time for recreation and socialization. As the training progresses, we plan to upload news and photos from each day; select the day you would like to view from the buttons to the left.

While trainees are not allowed to send e-mails, they may send U.S. mail to family and friends and may receive e-mails. Click on the link below if you would like to send an email to a cadet or staff member. DO NOT send any emails after 28 March 2008. Please add the recipient's first and last name at the end of the subject line. DO NOT EXPECT A REPLY, AS THE CADETS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SEND E-MAILS. ALSO, DO NOT EXPECT PRIVACY. STAFF RESERVES THE RIGHT TO READ AND SCREEN ALL E-MAILS, AND WILL NOT PASS ON MESSAGES THEY DEEM INAPPROPRIATE.
